Last week Jodie decided she needed a haircut...no (too much) of a biggie! Had to admit it shocked me when she came out of the bathroom with her long locks all over the rug, mostly because it instantly made her look older, but it was cute! Thankfully, my dear friend Leah is amazing with hair and so we went to her salon and she shaped it all up and it was looking cute!
Well, we came home and I started fixing dinner...maybe 10 minutes later I realized the bathroom door is shut, AHHHHH! I forgot to put up the scissors!!! Though, I never thought she would go right back into the bathroom and cut again (that's what I get for thinking :))! She had...she needed bangs and wanted it to be shorter.
So, the next day Leah came to my house, she even saved me the trip, and trimmed her hair back into shape. I would never tell Jodie this, but Leah and I were impressed with how well she did...it was not a hack job, even her bangs were straight!! She looks adorable no matter what!
Oh, and the scissors have disappeared from sight in this Tolbert home!!

Happy Memorial Day!
We had a great, LONG, weekend with Matt home! Got some things packed, but other than that just really enjoyed spending time together! We started our Memorial Day with a wonderful Ceremony at the local library...we went last year and thought it was a great way to start the day, so that all of us can remember what this day really means! I was so proud to look over and see my kiddos with hands over their hearts and singing the National Anthem!
The rest of our day was spent playing, swimming, and grilling!! Recipe for a great day!
Here are some snap shots of the kids swimming in our little blow-up pool. Take note of Logan's swim attire (Christmas P.J.'s)! Got to love that boy and I do...all of them!

Dilon and Jodie's Recitals
On May 19th Jodie and Dilon had their dance recitals! They had worked so hard all year and had learned so much! It was so much fun to watch them get up on stage and perform their dances! Daddy, Grandmama, Leah and family, and Christina and family came out to enjoy it as well! We enjoyed so much having them all come!
Jodie really enjoyed herself on stage. She knew her dance and was happy to show it!
Dilon LOVES the stage! He enjoyed his time dancing and is actually signed up to do a jazz camp this summer!

Dance Competition
In March, Dilon had a dance competition...his first! He was so excited and so nervous at the same time!! He and his dance group have been working so hard on this routine. It is a jazz routine to, 100% Pure Love. Some of you old schoolers might remember the song and some of the dance moves...especially the butterfly!! Or at least I remember it!
Well, their dance went great!! Dilon came off the stage with a big smile on his face saying that he wanted to do that again...and he will! They won extreme and got third place in their age category. Then the next week we found out that their score was high enough and they are invited back to finals in June!
While Dilon was performing, his little brother and sister could not of been more proud of their big brother!! They were cheering and calling out his name and when he was done Logan kept saying, "that was awesome, that was awesome." When they met in the hallway it was big hugs and kisses for big brother!

Big Week Logan
Since we have moved to North Carolina, we have occasionally tried to help Logan learn to ride his bike without training wheels. Mostly, he has been not been interested at all and the last couple of months, between my broken foot and Matt being gone, it has not been happening.
But, thankfully, Logan has an amazing big brother!! Monday, Dilon came in and asked me to take the training wheels off of Logan's bike because he was going to teach him!!
Well, by George, he DID! Logan DID IT!!
There was a jubilant group of Tolbert's in the backyard with p.j.'s on celebrating Logan's accomplishment!! It warmed my heart to see how happy Jodie and Dilon were to watch Logan learn to ride is bike without extra wheels (as Jodie said). Hugs and screams of joy all around!

Then today Jodie learned to pump her legs on the swing to keep herself going!!
They grow and learn so fast!

Marine Corps Commandant Band and Silent Drill Team
On March 14, the kids and I were able to go to the Commandant Band and Silent Drill team for the Marine Corps! This was the 4th time that the kids and I had seen it in person, and I think it is great every time. There is so much work and practice that goes into the whole show.
We had something cool happen this year...the band started walking straight at us. The kids loved it with them so close and so loud. For the most part the band has always been out in the distance, but not this time!!| The Silent Drill Team! |
I love the kids to have the opportunities to do these things that feel so patriotic and apart of the USMC community! Respect, pride, and love for our country is one of the things I want them to have! That and the fact that, though, we do not wear an uniform like their Daddy we help make it possible for him to do the things his country calls him to do!
This group above really loves and misses their Daddy and (her) Hubby!
